Abstract
This workshop presents new material in several interlocking areas. Its purpose is to increase and integrate clinical skills in the practice of therapy, with particular emphasis on hypnotically-facilitated psychotherapy. The role of the imagination in each of the workshop’s three segments will be emphasized as will experiential interactions with the workshop leader, demonstrations, discussion, and practical exercises.
The first segment will illuminate the use of hypnosis in the holistic diagnosis and treatment of the biopsychosocial phenomena known as attachment pattern disorders and will give participants opportunities to role play their patients with the workshop leader to provide greater experiential and practical knowledge of how to identify and deal with these problems.
The second segment will focus on dreams and hypnotic dreaming. Participants will learn more about using hypnosis to facilitate dreaming and the programming of dreams, to manage trauma-based dreams, how to facilitate patients’ movement into lucid dreaming, and how to participate in an Experiential Dream Group for the development of greater understanding of dreams
In the third segment areas of transpersonal hypnosis will be presented within a scientific framework. These include topics such as the use of hypnosis to amplify clinical intuition, the relationship of hypnosis to the Positive Thinking movement, and how hypnosis facilitates paranormal phenomena such as remote viewing. Also included will be the identification and management of Spiritual Emergence Crises, hypnosis and spiritual healing, the relationship of hypnosis to Eastern, Western, and Indigenous spiritual practices, near death experiences, and applications of Jungian and other perspectives on “past life” work in clinical practice.
