Description

This dynamic workshop presents principles of Ericksonian psychotherapy as adapted and refined by world-renowned clinician Rob McNeilly, Dr. McNeilly’s approach harnesses thepower of hypnosis, but often without the use of formal trance to help clients access their internal resources.


Through a combination of didactic material, case presentations, experiential exercises, and opportunities for small group practice, Dr. McNeilly will invite us to recognize and hone our own clinical mastery.


About the Presenter

Dr. Robert McNeilly is a physician who practices in Melbourne, Australia. He studied with Milton Erickson. Inspired by Dr. Erickson’s humanistic approach to therapy, he created his own interpretation of his work.In 1988 he founded the Centre for Effective Therapy(CET) in l988 to introduce Ericksonian Hypnosis and the Solution Oriented Approach to hypnosis in Australia.


Dr. McNeilly is known for his easy, respectful teaching style, and his elegant ability to make complex issues approachable while retaining their essence. He teaches online worldwide and has presented workshops in Singapore, Denmark, Finland, Brazil, Ireland, England and The Czech Republic. He is also a frequent presenter at the Milton H. Erickson Foundation International Congress.


Learning Objectives

1. Participants will be able to describe Ericksonian hypnosis as an extension of the “common everyday trance”.

2. Participants will learn to develop a practical treatment plan targeted to the individual client’s goals and personality characteristics.

3. Participants will learn 2 methods for developing a clear objective for each individual client that connects with their unique resources.

4. Participants will engage in small group practiceto increase their own clinical skill, mastery and confidence.

5. Participants will learn to formulate case conceptualizations based on the Ericksonian methods presented.

6. Participants will learn four tools to help clients reframe hopelessness to facilitate healing from trauma.

7. Participants will be able to describe three tools to help maintain their own resilience as they treat survivors of severe trauma
