Memory reconsolidation is a recent neuroscience discovery that has revealed how to heal trauma at its roots by recalling a memory and updating it with new information. In this webinar, Courtney will discuss the research regarding this exciting discovery, then demonstrate how to use hypnosis to elicit reconsolidation with a simple five-step protocol that is both gentle and empowering for your clients.
Presenter bio:
Courtney Armstrong, LPC is a licensed professional counselor and National Board-Certified Fellow in Clinical Hypnosis who specializes in grief and trauma recovery. Known for her engaging teaching style, she has developed hypnosis training programs for the Veterans Health Administration and trains healthcare professionals both nationally and internationally. She is the Founder of the Institute for Trauma Informed Hypnotherapy and the author of Transforming Traumatic Grief (2011), The Therapeutic “Aha!” (2015), and her latest book Rethinking Trauma Treatment: Attachment, Memory Reconsolidation and Resilience (2019).
Objectives:
After completing this workshop participants will be better able to:
- Describe the difference between implicit and explicit memory.
- Summarize research regarding memory reconsolidation and its clinical implications for treatment.
- Utilize age regression and progression to more effectively resolve traumatic memories.
- Utilize metaphorical imagery to more effectively resolve traumatic memories
