NESCH Quarterly Meeting

Empowerment by Design with Hypnosis: Mental Skills Training for Peak Performance
Speaker: Linda Thomson, PhD. APRN, ABMH
Although athletes, musicians, and performers spend hours perfecting their craft, very little of their time is devoted to the mental and emotional aspects of their training. Hypnosis can be used to enhance performance by giving the individual tools to improve focus, reduce anxiety and better cope with poor performance. When in a hypnotically induced altered state, the mind imprints and encodes things differently. Mental rehearsal creates neuroplasticity.
This workshop will provide clinicians with tools and techniques to help them better work with clients who want to improve their performance. When clients are taught strategies in hypnosis, they can learn to control anxiety and arousal, program in achievement and program out mistakes and prepare for competitions or performance with positive self-talk and imagery. To experience success one must be able to reframe failure and strive for excellence in themselves.
