"Beyond Calming Down: How to Be creative and Active in Hypnotic Interventions with Children & Teens"
Most children are taught breathing and relaxation exercises to help with anxiety, anger, pain, sleep issues, and even depression. But is this enough? This workshop takes clinicians through the process of creating hypnotic and strategic interventions for children and teens that move beyond the common emphasis on “relaxation” and “calming down,” focusing on how to identify therapeutic targets and create new frames that move children and teens out of the “content trap” of the anxiety, depression, and related sleep and somatic issues. The goal in creating effective interventions is to interrupt the predictable cognitive, behavioral, and physiological patterns using hypnotic interventions that experientially move kids and families toward uncertainty (a key to successful treatment) address the use of avoidance, and promote the skills of differentiation and problem solving.
